  • 50 hours online curriculum in partnership with the American Red Cross
  • 30 hours in the skills lab at Moon River Nursing Careers
  • 40 hours clinical experience at a long-term care facility working with patients
  • 24 hours online curriculum focusing on dementia care and end-of-life care

Pre-health Paid Internship

The pre-health paid internship at Moon River Nursing Careers offers training to become a CNA and one-on-one experience working in home health at Moon River Senior Care. It is a great way for college students or recent graduates to fulfill clinical experience before medical school, PA school, and other grad school programs. It is also a great opportunity for undergraduate students to gain experience in a medical setting.

For students in the gap year, the pre-health internship includes a scholarship to the 144 hour nurse aide training course offered in partnership with the American Red Cross. Following the Nurse Aide training at Moon River Nursing Careers, interns are placed in a part-time or full-time job with our affiliate Moon River Senior Care in Ashburn, VA. Our licensed home care agency is committed to helping older adults maintain the highest level of independence and enjoy the best possible quality of life.

The pre-health internship scholarship is valued at $2,150. Interns can commit to work a minimum of 600 hours or can gain up to 2,000 hours of patient care experience, depending on their career paths. This internship has a proven track record for helping students get into medical school and PA school.

The Nurse Aide course is the prerequisite to taking the state exam to become a CNA (Certified nursing assistant). Interns are encouraged, but not required to take the CNA exam. The CNA credential will open the door to jobs at hospitals, assisted living, memory care, nursing homes, home health and hospice.
